Question 1

What manual tasks can we automate when using Startquestion?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the distribution of surveys to contacts based on specific triggers or schedules, and route survey responses automatically to downstream tools or team members. Common automations include sending surveys when contacts meet certain conditions, capturing responses in a database or CRM without manual export, and triggering follow-up actions based on survey scores or feedback keywords. This eliminates manual survey distribution and response data entry.

Question 2

How does survey data flow out of Startquestion to other tools?

Accepted Answer

Startquestion can send survey responses and metadata to connected platforms through API calls or webhooks triggered when responses are submitted. The data typically includes response values, timestamps, respondent identifiers, and custom fields you define in the survey. When connected to other business tools, responses flow in near-real-time, allowing downstream systems to act on feedback immediately without requiring manual data syncing or exports.

Question 3

What issues should we watch for when automating Startquestion workflows?

Accepted Answer

Survey responses may be incomplete or submitted in stages, which can cause automations to fire prematurely or with partial data. Respondent identification matters: ensure survey responses can be reliably matched to the correct contact record in your other tools, or automations may route data to the wrong place. Custom fields and survey logic must be consistent across all connected systems, or data mapping will fail or create duplicates.

Question 4

How should we structure surveys in Startquestion for reliable automation?

Accepted Answer

Use consistent naming conventions for survey fields and response options across all surveys, so automations can reference them without custom reconfiguration each time. Define and store a unique respondent identifier (such as email or contact ID) in every survey so responses can be accurately matched to records in connected systems. Test the complete automation flow with sample responses before deploying to live surveys, since survey logic and field mismatches often go undetected until real data flows through.
