Question 1

What manual tasks around Cyfe can be automated?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the process of sending dashboard alerts or reports to team members when specific metrics meet certain thresholds, rather than having someone manually check Cyfe and notify others. You can also automate the flow of data from your connected sources (social media, analytics tools, CRM, support platforms) into Cyfe so dashboards update without manual data entry or verification. Automations can trigger actions in other tools based on Cyfe widget values, such as logging events or creating records elsewhere when key metrics change.

Question 2

How does data flow between Cyfe and other business tools?

Accepted Answer

Cyfe pulls data from external sources like analytics platforms, social media accounts, marketing tools, and support systems through native integrations or data connections you configure. When you connect Cyfe to other tools via automation platforms, outbound data typically flows as alerts or metrics extracted from Cyfe widgets, which can then trigger actions downstream. Inbound data to Cyfe comes from your source systems directly, not from other tools, so Cyfe acts as a centralized monitoring layer rather than a data hub for bidirectional sync.

Question 3

What breaks or causes problems when automating around Cyfe?

Accepted Answer

Delays in data updates from your source systems (social media, analytics, CRM) can cause Cyfe dashboards to show stale information, making automated alerts fire based on outdated metrics. Automations that rely on extracting specific widget values from Cyfe may fail if your dashboard layout changes or widgets are removed, since the system needs to know which widget to reference. Custom thresholds or logic in Cyfe itself cannot be directly queried by external automation tools, so you may need to duplicate threshold logic in your automation platform to trigger actions accurately.

Question 4

How should I organize Cyfe dashboards to make automations reliable?

Accepted Answer

Create separate dashboards for different teams or business functions so automations only reference the specific widgets they need, reducing the risk of pulling wrong data if the dashboard changes. Use consistent widget names and keep dashboard structure stable, as external automations often reference widgets by position or label. Document which widgets feed into which automations so team members understand the dependencies and avoid accidentally modifying or deleting widgets that downstream processes depend on.
