Marketing Attribution Reporting

[YourCompany.com] · Marketing Department · Prepared by FullSpec · [Today's Date]

This document is your end-to-end guide to getting the Marketing Attribution Reporting automation live. It covers what is being built, how the build is structured, what FullSpec needs from you before work begins, what your ongoing role looks like once the automation is running, and how to tell whether the launch has been successful. FullSpec handles all technical build, configuration, and testing work. Your role is to provide access to your existing tools and confirm one configuration decision before the build begins.

01What you're launching

Right now, your marketing team spends close to five hours every reporting cycle manually downloading files from four advertising and analytics platforms, fixing inconsistent UTM tags, merging data into a spreadsheet, and drafting a summary before anyone can read a number. The finished report is often stale before it reaches the leadership meeting, and errors only surface after the fact. This automation replaces that entire data-collection and merging process with three connected agents that pull data on schedule, apply your attribution model automatically, and post a ready-to-read report to Slack, so your team moves from spending a morning on data plumbing to spending fifteen minutes reviewing a finished output.

02How the build works

The build is structured across four stages: Connect, Build, Test, and Launch. FullSpec manages every technical step inside each stage. Your involvement is limited to providing access credentials at the start and confirming one configuration decision. The total build is estimated at 38 hours of work across a four-week window, which accounts for API access approvals, agent construction, and end-to-end quality assurance against a live reporting period.

Complexity level: Moderate. Estimated delivery: 4 weeks (20 business days) from the close of Connect. The delivery clock starts at the close of Connect, not payment. Delays in API access approval, particularly for Meta Ads Manager, may extend the timeline. Having all credentials and admin access ready before Connect begins shortens the schedule considerably.
1
Connect
Business days 1 to 3
Who
Actions
FullSpec
Runs the Connect call with your team, collects the credential checklist, configures OAuth connections for Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, and HubSpot, sets up the staging Google Sheet with named ranges, and confirms the attribution model to be built.
You
Attend the Connect call, provide admin access to each platform, confirm the attribution model in use (first-touch, last-touch, or linear), and approve the staging sheet structure.
2
Build
Business days 4 to 14
Who
Actions
FullSpec
Builds and tests the Data Fetch Agent across all four platform APIs (date range handling, field mapping, error handling), then builds the Attribution and Merge Agent with UTM normalisation rules and attribution model logic, and finally builds the Summary and Delivery Agent with Slack delivery and anomaly detection.
You
Remain available to answer questions about UTM naming conventions or attribution preferences. No technical input is required. FullSpec will reach out via email if a decision point arises.
3
Test
Business days 15 to 18
Who
Actions
FullSpec
Runs end-to-end QA across a live reporting period, validates agent outputs against manual benchmarks, tests anomaly detection thresholds, confirms Slack delivery formatting, and documents any adjustments made.
You
Review the test report output in Google Sheets and the Slack notification, confirm the numbers look consistent with what you would expect from a manual run, and give written sign-off to proceed to launch.
4
Launch
Business days 19 to 20
Who
Actions
FullSpec
Switches the automation from staging to live schedule, confirms the first production run completes successfully, delivers all six handover documents, and sets up monitoring alerts for failed runs.
You
Confirm the first live report lands in Slack as expected, brief your team that manual exports are no longer required, and archive or retire the old manual spreadsheet template.

03What FullSpec needs from you

FullSpec needs only access to your existing tools. No technical knowledge is required from your side. The table below lists every credential or access item needed, and when to have it ready. Having everything prepared before the Connect call closes means the build can start immediately without delays.

Tool
What we need
When
Google Ads
Admin or API access with a Google account that has Manager Account (MCC) access, or direct account access with sufficient permissions to grant OAuth
Before Connect closes
Meta Ads Manager
Business Manager admin access so FullSpec can create or connect an app for OAuth. Note: Meta may require a brief platform app review before API access is granted.
Before Connect closes
Google Analytics 4
Editor or Administrator role on the GA4 property so the Google Analytics Data API can be enabled and authenticated
Before Connect closes
HubSpot
Super Admin access or a Private App token with read permissions on Contacts, Deals, and Properties
Before Connect closes
Google Sheets
A Google account with edit access to the master attribution sheet, or permission for FullSpec to create a new staging sheet in your shared Drive
Before Connect closes
Slack
Ability to install a Slack app into your workspace, or admin approval to do so, and confirmation of the target channel name for report delivery
Before Connect closes
One decision you must confirm before Connect closes: the attribution model. The Attribution and Merge Agent is built around a single model, either first-touch, last-touch, or linear. This choice affects how CPA and ROAS are calculated for every channel in every report. Changing the model after the agent is built requires reworking the merge logic. Please confirm your preferred model with the FullSpec team during the Connect call so it is locked in before build begins.

04Your role once live

Once the automation is live, the division of responsibilities is straightforward. The heavy data work is handled automatically. Your team focuses on interpreting the output and making decisions, not producing the report.

Role
Ongoing responsibilities
What you no longer touch
You (business owner and marketing team)
Review the Slack notification when each report lands. Investigate any anomaly flags raised by the Summary and Delivery Agent. Make budget and channel decisions based on the completed attribution output. Update the attribution model or reporting schedule by contacting FullSpec at support@gofullspec.com.
Manual CSV exports from Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, and HubSpot. UTM reconciliation in spreadsheets. Merging files and applying attribution formulas. Drafting the report summary. Distributing the report to stakeholders.
FullSpec
Monitor automation run health and alert you if a run fails or a data source goes offline. Apply fixes promptly if an API change breaks a connection. Provide support for any changes to the automation via support@gofullspec.com. Maintain all credentials and connection logic.
Not applicable. FullSpec does not make marketing decisions or interpret the business meaning of attribution data. All strategic review stays with your team.

05What success looks like

The table below sets out what you should expect to see at each milestone after go-live, and the signal that confirms things are working correctly. If anything does not match expectations at any stage, contact the FullSpec team at support@gofullspec.com.

Timeframe
What to expect
Sign of success
Week 1
The first one or two automated reports land in Slack on schedule. The Google Sheets output is structured identically to the manual template your team knows. The marketing manager spends around 30 minutes reviewing rather than building the report.
Report delivered to Slack within 20 minutes of the scheduled trigger. Zero manual exports needed. Team confirms numbers are consistent with prior manual benchmarks.
Month 1
The automation completes every scheduled report run without manual intervention. Anomaly flags surface genuine data issues rather than noise. UTM reconciliation errors drop to zero. The marketing team has reclaimed roughly 20 to 22 hours of analyst and manager time across the month.
All four or five reports for the month delivered on schedule. At least one anomaly flag validated as a real signal. No manual fixes required to the output sheet.
Month 3
The process is fully embedded. The team trusts the attribution data and uses it as the primary source for budget decisions in weekly and monthly reviews. Approximately 63 hours of manual work have been recovered. The automation is delivering against the projected $3,125 overhead saving for the first 90 days.
Leadership is making channel budget decisions directly from the automated report. Manual reporting spreadsheets have been archived. Payback on the $3,800 build cost is on track within the projected 3-month window.
Next step: to begin the Connect stage and get the build clock started, contact the FullSpec team at support@gofullspec.com with the subject line 'Marketing Attribution Reporting, Connect Call Request'. Prepare the access credentials listed in Section 03 and confirm your preferred attribution model so the first call can close quickly and build can begin on day one.
