Question 1

What kind of work can I automate by connecting Yelp Conversions to my other business tools?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the detection of conversion events (like purchases or completed leads) from your business systems and send them to Yelp without manual entry. For example, when a transaction is recorded in your payment or CRM system, an automation can trigger Yelp Conversions to log that event in real time, eliminating the need to report conversions manually and ensuring attribution data reaches Yelp consistently.

Question 2

How does data move between Yelp Conversions and my other business applications when I set up an automation?

Accepted Answer

When you connect Yelp Conversions to another tool via automation, conversion data flows outward from your source system (such as your CRM, payment processor, or booking platform) to Yelp. The automation detects qualifying events in your source system, extracts the relevant conversion details, and pushes them to Yelp Conversions, which then records the attribution. Data typically moves in one direction: from your business system to Yelp.

Question 3

What are common problems when automating Yelp Conversions reporting?

Accepted Answer

The most common issue is delayed or missed conversions if the automation trigger is not aligned with when the actual conversion event occurs in your business system. Another pitfall is incomplete contact or transaction data passed to Yelp Conversions, which can prevent proper attribution. Additionally, if your source system lacks consistent event logging or if the automation connection breaks, conversions may not be reported to Yelp at all, leaving gaps in attribution data.

Question 4

How should I organize my conversion data and systems to make Yelp Conversions automation reliable?

Accepted Answer

Ensure that your source system (CRM, payment platform, or other business tool) has clearly defined events that represent a conversion, with consistent fields like contact identifier, conversion type, and timestamp. Set up your automation to trigger only on actual conversion events, not on preliminary steps, and test that required data fields are populated before mapping them to Yelp Conversions. Document which events in your business system correspond to conversions so the automation rule remains accurate as your business grows.
