Question 1

What manual work can I automate by connecting tl;dv to other tools?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the distribution and organization of meeting transcripts and summaries generated by tl;dv. For example, you can automatically send transcripts to a shared document repository, post summaries to a team communication channel, or create records in a database with meeting notes and action items extracted from tl;dv recordings. This removes the manual step of copying, pasting, or forwarding meeting outputs across your workflow.

Question 2

How does tl;dv share meeting data with other tools in an automation?

Accepted Answer

tl;dv outputs structured data including transcripts, summaries, and metadata (such as meeting title, date, and participants) that can be accessed through API connections or webhook triggers. When a meeting is recorded and processed, this data can be pulled into connected tools to populate forms, create records, or initiate downstream workflows. The transcript text and summary become the primary payloads available for use in other systems.

Question 3

What are common problems when automating with tl;dv?

Accepted Answer

Meeting recordings can fail to sync if the meeting ended unexpectedly or if the recording permission was revoked, leaving your automation without data to process. Transcription accuracy varies with audio quality and multiple speakers, which may require manual review before the data is used downstream. Additionally, tl;dv only captures meetings on Google Meet and Zoom, so meetings on other platforms will not be recorded or available for automation.

Question 4

How should I set up tl;dv to make automations reliable?

Accepted Answer

Ensure tl;dv is installed and authorized on all accounts that will host meetings you want recorded, and verify permissions are set to allow recording before meetings begin. Use consistent meeting naming conventions so automated systems can correctly identify and route meeting data. Monitor your first few automated workflows to confirm transcripts are being captured and summaries are generating before relying on them for critical downstream processes.
