Question 1

What manual work around timeghost can I automate?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the collection and routing of time entries recorded in timeghost by connecting it to other business tools. For example, you can trigger workflows when time is logged, automatically pull time data into reporting systems, or send time-tracking summaries to project management tools without manual export or re-entry. This reduces the need to manually copy time data between systems or create reports by hand.

Question 2

How does data flow between timeghost and other tools when they are connected?

Accepted Answer

Timeghost integrates with your Microsoft 365 account, so time entries and project data can be read from timeghost and sent to connected platforms through automation workflows. Data typically flows out of timeghost when entries are created or updated, triggering actions in other tools such as updating task status, creating records, or generating notifications. The direction and frequency of data movement depends on how you configure the connection, such as real-time sync or scheduled pulls.

Question 3

What are common gotchas when automating with timeghost?

Accepted Answer

Timeghost requires an active Microsoft 365 account for authentication, so losing access to that account will break any connected automations. Time entries must be logged before they can be pulled into workflows, meaning automations cannot trigger on incomplete or future-planned time. Additionally, if timeghost fields or project structures change in Microsoft 365, automation filters and data mappings may need manual adjustment to stay aligned with the new setup.

Question 4

How should I organize timeghost to make automations reliable?

Accepted Answer

Establish consistent naming conventions for projects, tasks, and time categories in timeghost so automation filters can reliably identify and match the right entries. Ensure team members understand the project structure and consistently tag time entries the same way, since automations depend on this consistency to route data correctly. Regularly audit your project setup in timeghost to confirm that field names and structures align with what your automation workflows are expecting.
