Question 1

What manual video creation work can I automate with Synthesia?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the generation of personalized videos that get attached to or embedded in transactional emails sent to contacts. Instead of manually recording or editing individual videos, Synthesia generates them programmatically based on data you provide, like contact names or account details. This is useful when you need to add video content at scale to outbound communication without repeating the creation process for each recipient.

Question 2

How does data flow into Synthesia from other tools?

Accepted Answer

When you connect Synthesia to your workflow platform or email system, you pass contact data and personalization variables (such as names, account numbers, or custom messages) as inputs to the video generation request. Synthesia processes these inputs, generates the video, and returns a URL or file that can then be embedded in emails or stored in your records. The data flow depends on how your integration is configured, but typically data moves from your source system through to Synthesia and back out as a video asset.

Question 3

What breaks or causes problems when automating video generation with Synthesia?

Accepted Answer

Common issues include passing incomplete or malformed personalization data, which can cause videos to generate with missing or incorrect information. Relying on video generation to complete before sending emails can cause delays if generation times are longer than expected. Additionally, if contact data contains special characters or unusually long text, the video output may not render as intended, so data validation before sending to Synthesia is important.

Question 4

How should I structure my contact data to make Synthesia automations work reliably?

Accepted Answer

Organize your contact records so that personalization fields (names, identifiers, custom messages) are consistent, complete, and formatted correctly before they reach Synthesia. Map these fields clearly in your workflow configuration so Synthesia knows which data goes into which part of the video template. Test with sample records first to confirm the video output matches your expectations before running the automation at scale.
