Question 1

What manual work can I automate by connecting Sendy to other tools?

Accepted Answer

You can automate importing contact lists from external systems into Sendy, triggering campaigns based on actions in other applications, and syncing subscriber data bidirectionally between Sendy and your CRM or database. For example, when new contacts are added to a spreadsheet or database, they can be automatically added to a Sendy list, or when someone unsubscribes in Sendy, that status can be reflected in your source system without manual updates.

Question 2

How does data move between Sendy and other business tools when I set up automations?

Accepted Answer

Sendy connects to other tools through its API, which allows contact information, list memberships, and campaign status to be read from or written to Sendy. When you connect Sendy to another application, data typically flows in one of two directions: contacts and their attributes are pushed from an external system into Sendy lists, or subscriber activity (opens, clicks, unsubscribes) is pulled from Sendy back into your CRM or analytics platform for tracking and segmentation.

Question 3

What problems should I watch for when automating Sendy workflows?

Accepted Answer

Since Sendy relies on Amazon SES for actual email delivery, check that your AWS account has sufficient sending capacity and that you are not hitting SES rate limits, which can cause campaigns to fail silently. Also verify that contact data being imported matches Sendy's expected format (valid email addresses, proper field mapping), and be aware that bounces and complaints reported by SES may take time to sync back to Sendy, potentially causing send delays if automations depend on real-time list accuracy.

Question 4

How should I structure my Sendy setup to make automations reliable?

Accepted Answer

Create distinct lists in Sendy for different contact segments or data sources rather than mixing them, which makes it easier to target automations and audit data flow. Ensure your AWS SES account has appropriate sending limits configured and monitor your AWS account health separately from Sendy, since delivery depends on both platforms working together. Also map field names consistently between your source systems and Sendy at the start so automated imports do not drop or mismatch data.
