Question 1

What manual work can I automate when using PlayFilm?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the capture and transfer of contact information collected through PlayFilm video tests into your CRM or contact management system. When someone completes a video test in PlayFilm, you can trigger automated workflows to add or update their record, tag them based on their responses, and route them to the appropriate follow-up process without manual data entry. This removes the repetitive work of manually logging test participants and their results into other tools.

Question 2

How does data flow between PlayFilm and other tools?

Accepted Answer

PlayFilm captures contact information and test responses from users who complete video tests, and this data can be sent to connected platforms through automation workflows. Contact records, responses, and metadata generated by PlayFilm are typically exported as structured data and passed to downstream tools like CRMs, email platforms, or lead management systems. The specific fields and format available for export depend on how PlayFilm is configured and what data fields are collected during the test.

Question 3

What problems should I watch for when automating with PlayFilm?

Accepted Answer

Ensure that contact information captured by PlayFilm maps correctly to the fields in your downstream system, as misaligned field names or formats can cause data to fail or populate incorrectly. Video test completion or abandonment may trigger workflows unexpectedly, so clarify which PlayFilm events should activate automations. Test your automation end-to-end with sample video tests first to confirm that contact records are created or updated as intended before running it at scale.

Question 4

How should I set up PlayFilm so automations work reliably?

Accepted Answer

Configure PlayFilm to collect the specific contact and response fields you need downstream, and keep your field structure consistent across all video tests so automations can reference the same data points. Clearly define which test completions or response criteria should trigger downstream actions, and verify that your PlayFilm account has the necessary permissions and authentication set up to connect to your CRM or other platforms. Document which video tests feed into which automations so you can track data flow and troubleshoot issues if patterns change.
