Question 1

What manual work can be automated when using Dromo to import data?

Accepted Answer

Dromo automates the act of collecting and parsing CSV or spreadsheet files from users, but the downstream work still requires automation. Once Dromo parses imported data, you can automate validation checks, field mapping errors, duplicate detection, and routing of records to downstream systems or workflows. The manual work that disappears is asking users to reformat files or manually entering spreadsheet data into your application.

Question 2

How does data flow from Dromo into other business systems?

Accepted Answer

Dromo parses CSV and spreadsheet uploads and outputs structured data that can be sent to your application's backend via API or webhooks. Data flows out of Dromo as JSON payloads containing the parsed rows and columns, which automation tools can then route to databases, CRM systems, accounting software, or other connected platforms. The format and structure of that output depends on how you configure the importer in Dromo.

Question 3

What problems commonly break automations involving Dromo imports?

Accepted Answer

Column name mismatches between the uploaded file and your expected schema cause data to land in the wrong fields or fail validation. Users uploading files with different formatting, encoding, or extra whitespace can create parsing errors that automation logic doesn't catch. Duplicate records across multiple imports require de-duplication logic downstream, and missing required fields often need conditional routing or rejection workflows rather than stopping the entire import.

Question 4

How should I structure Dromo imports so automations work reliably?

Accepted Answer

Define a strict template or schema in Dromo that enforces which columns are required and what data type each accepts, then validate output before sending to downstream systems. Test your importer with real-world files that contain common variations like extra spaces, mixed case entries, or partial data. Build error handling into your automation workflow to capture validation failures from Dromo and route them to a review queue instead of failing silently.
