Question 1

What manual work around alt text generation can I automate with AltTextLab?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the process of generating alt text for images at scale instead of writing descriptions manually. When images are added to your website, uploaded to asset libraries, or included in bulk content imports, AltTextLab can generate alt text automatically and populate it into your image metadata or content management system. This removes the bottleneck of having team members write alt text for each image individually.

Question 2

How does alt text from AltTextLab flow into my other business tools?

Accepted Answer

AltTextLab generates alt text that can be sent to downstream tools via API or direct integration. The generated text can populate image metadata fields in your content management system, be added to image records in asset databases, or piped into document templates where images appear. Data typically flows one direction: image in, alt text out to the tool where your image lives.

Question 3

What are common problems when automating AltTextLab?

Accepted Answer

AltTextLab works best with clear, distinct images. Complex images with overlapping elements, small or obscured text, or highly specialized visual content may produce less accurate descriptions. Additionally, alt text quality depends on the tool's training data, so results may vary by image type or domain. Testing generated text before it publishes is recommended to catch mismatches between what the AI sees and what your audience needs conveyed.

Question 4

How should I structure my image workflows to use AltTextLab reliably?

Accepted Answer

Set up a clear trigger point where images enter the automation, such as when files are uploaded to a specific folder, added to a content library, or attached to records. Route all images that need alt text through this single path rather than scattered across multiple tools or processes. Build in a review step if accuracy is critical, or configure the automation to flag images that failed to generate usable text so your team can handle edge cases manually.
