Question 1

What manual work can I automate by connecting SmartrMail to other tools?

Accepted Answer

You can automate the process of identifying which products or content to recommend to each contact based on their behavior or attributes, then triggering SmartrMail campaigns without manual selection. This removes the need to manually choose recipients and product recommendations for each send. Automation can also handle the logic of when to send based on contact actions, data changes, or recurring schedules, replacing repetitive decision-making workflows.

Question 2

How does data flow between SmartrMail and other business tools in an automation?

Accepted Answer

Contact lists, behavioral data, and product catalog information typically flow into SmartrMail from your CRM, database, or other systems. SmartrMail processes these inputs to determine which products are most relevant per contact, then sends the campaign. After sending, engagement data like open and click events can flow back out to your CRM or analytics platform to track performance and inform future decisions. The direction and structure of this data exchange depends on how your automation is configured.

Question 3

What common issues arise when automating SmartrMail campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Mismatched contact data (such as missing email addresses or incomplete product attributes) can prevent SmartrMail from matching contacts to the right recommendations. Duplicate contacts across your source systems can lead to repeated sends to the same address. Campaign timing issues occur when automation triggers are not properly synchronized with your data refresh cycles, causing stale information to be used for product selection. Testing the data pipeline and validation rules before going live helps catch these problems early.

Question 4

How should I organize my contact and product data in SmartrMail for reliable automations?

Accepted Answer

Maintain clean, consistent contact records in your source system (CRM, database, etc.) with required fields like email address and any attributes SmartrMail uses to determine relevance. Ensure your product catalog is structured the same way each time data syncs to SmartrMail so recommendation logic works predictably. Set up clear field mapping between your source system and SmartrMail so automations know exactly which data corresponds to which recommendations. Regular audits of duplicate contacts and outdated product information prevent automations from sending to wrong audiences or promoting irrelevant items.
